Progress report #3

It is now 10:30pm MST.
I am happy to report I have quilted 4 out of 5 quilts since Monday. I have all their respective bindings made too.
I even managed to clean most of my house today too!!
Hopefully if the weather is decent tomorrow (we actually had tornado warnings around here tonight, but the storm passed about 20 km north of us, whew) I will take pictures of what is completed...well except the bindings.

GOOD NIGHT!!!

progress report #2

It is now Thursday July 29th at 4:30 MST and I would like to report that I now have 3 and 1/2 quilts out 5 quilted!!!

It would have been 4 by now but I think my machine was tired yesterday and kept giving me grief so I had to quit early last night.

I am not sure if I will get around to number 5 tomorrow.  It is queen size and has to be sandwiched still, but I will give it a go!

The biggest triumph was teaching my friend how to free motion quilt (FMQ). Now that she knows how,  she is thrilled with the little projects she is finishing up. I might add she is doing very well too.

We each had a machine going and my daughter #1 would join in too on my other machine, working on her rag quilt. It was like a mini retreat.

While my machine was resting I managed to finish all the bindings on my new placemats and made some more hexies.

cross your fingers I get some more quilting in tonight!

do you consider machine quilting a chore or pleasure??

Some of you might think I am crazy and have my work cut out for me.  I want to get these quilts finished by the end of the week. (binding not included) You see D#2, the youngest, is heading to camp tonight for a week.  She is my energetic, has to be doing something, kind of  kid.  With her gone and the teens working or doing their own thing, I hope to get these finished!!  Three are old UFO's, one is a charity quilt from the guild and the newer pinwheel.  I still have to pin two, but ran out of pins.   Wish me luck!
quilts at the ready

birthday goodies from my friend, she spoils me rotten
My quilting buddy and friend gave me these goodies for my birthday. She is coming over on Tuesday and we are going to sew all day...our mini retreat.

Aren't these flowers amazing?  They are so tall too and look great on my counter for all to enjoy!

Still looking for a few more followers before I have my giveaway.

Happy Birthday to me!!

Yep today is the day I get a year older!!
You can fight it or give in to it. I figure everyone else is getting older so no use fighting it.

Plans for the day include going to a LQS and having lunch with the family.
Maybe we will even go to the lake in the afternoon. For sure we are going out for dinner.
Friday it is lunch with the ladies.

Have a good one!
Lee

p.s. I still want to have a giveaway but looking for a few more followers. thanks to those that are following already.

Hexies are blooming

I have joined Karen of Journey of a Quilter and her One Flower Wednesdays.  Each week or when ever you have some finishes, you post about the hexies your have made.  I have just started and I am really enjoying the process.  They are great to sit and do in the evening after a full day of life!
There is a special day coming up for me this week.  I would like to have a giveaway for the special occassion.
 Hint:
You will have to be a follower to get in on the giveaway!!!

Picasso and Van Gogh

A bit of creativity in the sun...

My daughter (light blue shirt) never seizes to amaze me. She felt like painting on Sunday and so she and her friend painted for a few hours. first a plate of cheese, crackers, wine bottle (empty) and wine glass,  then my flower garden and lastly...me!
yesterday she did a bit of sewing on her scrap quilt.
who knows what today will hold?
I am off for a day in my very neglected  garden!!!

p.s. there is a special day coming up this week.  If I ever reach 50 followers there will be a giveaway for the occassion

Catching up

Wow seems like forever since I blogged.

If you care to see pictures from trip to San Francisco they are here.  We had a great time.  We even managed to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge from Pier 45 to Sausalito, where we caught the ferry home.  Hope I don't bore you with our photos!

Sorry i had to remove the slide show...didn't realize at the time the song that would be blasting when viewing the pictures.

I have been doing some sewing, but nothing finished yet.  think i have too many started and now need to get them finished. Here are a few sneak peaks;
placemats in the making!
hexagons that grew in my garden runner for the ottoman
I tried some new freemotion stitching

still working on this pinwheel variation

I hope to get a few things finished by next week.
Yesterday D#2 got her ears pierced.  she was so nervous but did well with only a few tears after the fact.  now she is sporting cute will crystal blue flowers in her ears.
today we are off to a new farmers market, LQS and ortho.
This weekend the boys are off to Edmonton for soccer provincials.
I will be going to another LQS for their semi annual fabric sale. I am being commissioned by a friend to make her son a rag quilt for university. We picked out the flannel so now I just need to buy it. (hope it is still there)
I have been suffering from pulled back/shoulder muscles and stiff neck this week, not sure what from, but dang I wish it would go away. Went for a massage yesterday so hoping it will help soon.

What are you working on or not?
